Find Help for Your Pets
Nationwide, shelters kill an estimated 70% of cats and 60% of dogs that enter the system.
According to the ASPCA:
"Approximately 5 million to 7 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year, and approximately 3 million to 4 million are euthanized (60 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats)."
Those are some pretty scary and horrific numbers. The vast majority of these deaths are not euthanasia (to end suffering). It happens because there is simply no humane way to house millions of homeless animals.
Obviously the safest option for your pet is to make sure that they never end up at a shelter. Only you can decide whether or not your particular situation can be resolved or not, but on the chance that your problem can be resolved we would like to offer the following information. Keeping your pets probably won't be easy and it may involve some sacrifice on your part, but your pet's life may depend on it.
